The Guitar Sculpture is an interactive wall piece which allows audience to play, listen and mix looped audio to compose their own combination of sounds. The guitars contain infra-red sensors, LED’s, and speakers. When the audience approach the guitars, they trigger audio associated with that guitar. The speaker within the sound-hole lights up and plays the sample. Behind the scenes the wall-piece uses Max/MSP to control the interaction. The loops are samples from the songs I write. The work is fun, immediate and playful.
The photograph above is the sculpture in its first version exhibited as part of my Masters at University of Brighton.
The photographs below show the artwork on exhibit at a solo show at the PS2 Gallery in Belfast, June 2012. I re-designed the piece to be a wall installation.
